Mentor Me | 1:1 In-Person Mentoring
I am super excited to announce that I will be offering in-person mentorships on a limited basis for 2025! Be sure to read all of the info below to make sure this is a good fit for you. Due to limited availability, these are on a first-come/first-served basis.
Are you a hands-on, see-it-and-learn-it kind of photographer? Or maybe you have been shooting for years and looking for new inspiration. I want to help and guide you. Before we get started, let’s answer a few questions…
What is in-person mentoring?
We will meet at a location that we have discussed ahead of time. This will be a place where we can collect our thoughts, maybe grab a snack/coffee, and have the chance to get to know one another informally before heading out to shoot. Feel free to use this time to ask me any questions you've thought about beforehand (it helps to have these written down when you arrive so you don't forget anything when nerves kick in). I'm very relaxed and laid back, usually going with the flow. Some things we will talk about are how I approach each of my sessions, my thinking process, and how I prepare for a family before meeting with them on shoot day. And, maybe most importantly, how I plan on making it a special experience for them that allows them to open up and me to capture intimate, touching moments. But we can't forget that this is YOUR experience so I want you to think about how you might prepare for a similar family session and ask any question(s) you may have. This is a great time to talk about your current photography or business practices, look at images in your portfolio... anything you would like to work on and would like to see the most growth in. These mentoring sessions are tailored to YOUR needs as an artist.
Then, we shoot live! I prearrange a family session that we will shoot together, side by side. This is the hands-on part I mentioned above. I want to help you with everything from composition to light, camera settings, client interaction, and more! The sky is the limit! You can ask me anything. This is NOT a workshop. It is not meant to be stiff and structured, so this is based around YOU.
Do you travel?
Currently, no. Due to my own business schedule and commitments, I do not travel for mentorships. Sessions will be located within 25 miles of Ironton, OH.
How long do we spend together during a 1:1 mentorship?
Plan on being with me for about three hours. This allows us to have plenty of Prep/Q&A time as well as shooting time. All information regarding your mentoring session will be emailed to you 2-3 weeks before your session date.
Can I use the images I take during our mentorship session?
Absolutely! This is a great way to learn the tips and tricks of the trade and build your portfolio!
What are some examples of topics that we can cover?
Anything you'd like to know about photography—be it my own personal journey, yours, or something else entirely—I'd like to show you how to prepare your families for their sessions so they learn to relax and trust you during their time with you. That connection is important when we go over capturing moments between a family. We also review how gear can be used and what camera settings I find helpful to get great shots out of your camera. And much more!
Do I need to know anything about photography going into this mentoring program?
I recommend that you thoroughly understand manual mode. Since the sessions can move quickly sometimes and we are going to be busy, busy… a mastery of your camera settings will get you the most out of this mentorship. If you are just starting and looking for more basic camera knowledge or help that doesn’t run along the business lines, we can dedicate time to that instead, but make sure to specify up front so I can plan for you.
Unless otherwise arranged, you must come to the Ironton, OH, area for these mentorships.
You must be prompt so we get every last drop of awesome out of our time together.
What about pricing and payments?
The full price to register for 1:1 mentorship is $295.
All payments are non-refundable. Half of your payment is due at the time of registration with the remainder due 14 days before our time together. There are no exceptions. You may, however, sell your spot if necessary. Invoices are sent securely through email.
These sessions are completely non-refundable, so please plan accordingly. If, for some reason, you cannot satisfy your mentoring session, the registration will be withheld, but you will not be responsible for the remainder of the package unless we are 14 days out from your scheduled session date. By paying the registration, you agree to these terms. These sessions are held within 25 miles of Ironton, OH, and they must be held in 2025.
How do I sign up??
Easy! Just send me a message here, and we'll start planning our mentoring session together! You are on the books once the deposit is paid, and it is officially a date! The remainder is not due until 14 days before our time together.
Please Note: Mentorship times always start approx. 2-3 hours before sunset. We meet and get coffee first (on me!) and then head to the location to meet the family. All models are provided and chosen for you. The location is in Ironton, OH, unless otherwise stated. All your information to prepare will be sent two to three weeks before our time together to get better acquainted. All mentoring is non-refundable. Dates are weather permitted. If there is poor weather or an act of God that prevents our original date from happening, a follow-up date will be provided.
